In 1998, the North Carolina Pottery Center was established in Seagrove NC in order to promote public awareness and appreciation of the history, heritage, and ongoing tradition of pottery making in North Carolina. Since then, their opening, they have been able to do this through educational programs, public services, collection and preservation, and research and documentation.
This state wide facility is devoted only to pottery and to all North Carolina potters, from Native Americans and exemplars of the old utilitarian tradition to the well over 1,000 potters working throughout the state today. They are also home to the annual NC Potters Conference held each year in the Spring.
