BEN OWEN III
Ben Owen III is an American potter born and raised in Seagrove, NC who uses wood firing techniques for making functional and decorative pottery.
Tracing his roots to area potters from the 1700s, this sixth-generation potter learned from his family roots. Like his grandfather, Ben’s work reflects a foundation in traditional American designs alongside more global influences. Ben apprenticed with his grandfather before earning his BFA in Ceramics at East Carolina University, with a fellowship in Japan. He’s participated in workshops and conferences throughout the U.S., Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and most recently a visiting artist in Jingdezhen, China. He continues to work in the family business, Ben Owen Pottery, established by his grandfather, Ben Owen Sr.
His work is in collections all over the globe, but can be found by visiting his online studio and store at https://store.benowenpottery.com/.
