Micki Bare first began writing stories to her cousin as pen pals. She recalls receiving her first most cherished gift at the age of 7—a thesaurus, and so her love of writing began to flourish.
After 16 years as an early childhood executive and six years in advertising as a writer, editor, and web content manager, Micki resigned from the workforce to focus on family needs. This began her journey working as an associate editor for a parenting magazine and continued as a columnist for 18 years.
But her true love has been in writing books for children and youth. “Through writing, I endeavor to develop and nurture a love for reading and writing. With wholesome, relatable early reader chapter books and challenging middle grade low-fantasy novels, I hope to inspire children to be better, more compassionate, and more tolerant than the generations that came before them. I want to inspire young readers to unlock their own creativity and follow their dreams.
Today, Micki serves as the marketing director for a nonprofit that serves children and families and is currently working on a middle grades book series.
In addition to the three Thurston T. Turtle children’s books (2010-2012) and a personal story Relative Expressions (January 2005), Micki has collaborated on two books; The Kids Turned Out Fine (Ford-Martin-March 2006) and recent publication Writers Crushing Covid-19 (Kelter- July 2020).
